Feather & Leaf Print
c 1810

Beautiful print with unusual sleeves. I have recently been told that the Museum of London have a dress in similar fabric in their costume collection.

Description

Day Dress of white muslin printed with linear design of trailing leaves and sparys of seeds, interspersed with rows of curling leaf and feathers in indigo, madder & mocha shades, the fall front with a central vertical and horizontal seam, gently gathered on a drawstring round the waist and pinned to the bodice which has linen bosom flaps, short sleeves with long tapering sleeves below, the full skirt tightly gathered at centre back, 56 in; 1.42 cm shoulder to hem, waist 32-34 in; 80-87 cm.

Condition

Not in the best condition. The dress looks crisp and fresh but there are quite a number of pale rust coloured markings. I think you would have to buy this for the print and the unusual sleeves and forget the damage. There are overall stains. If you cannot see from the photos request more.
