I am not certain who designed this wonderful vibrant fabric but it was suggested to me that it might be Ashley Havinden 1903-73. Strong enough for upholstery or curtaining.

 

Description

a large roll of screen printed cotton and rayon, the mid blue ground with a feather type design of green fronds and brown scrolls, 22 5/8 in; 57.5 cm repeat ; 19 yds 1 ft x 50 in; 17.35 m x 1.28 cm

Condition

Excellent. Unused.

Graphic artist, textile designer and abstract painter. He joined the advertising agency W S Crawford in 1922, became art director and by 1960 was Vice-Chairman. 1933 started to design rugs and textiles for leading British manufacturers including Campbell Fabrics who block printed textiles under the name Nairn Cloth. The Old Bleach Linen Company during the 30's. Several designs for Edinburgh Weavers which featured abstract organic shapes and stylized plant and animal motifs.
