American Nardi's Riding Suit
1930s

This beautifully seamed and tailored suit was made for Mrs S C Jackson. I'm afraid we do not have any other information about her. It is made from a very good quality tight weave wool, possibly with silk. The way the front left side opens on a slight diagonal is an unusual feature.  It looks great on! Very stylish.

Description

The jacket of fine brown wool with a feint stripe, the front opening on a slight slant with two brown buttons, two slanting pockets at hip level, two buttons to each cuff, back flap, size 12 UK/ 10 USA.

The jodphurs, with cotton label Nardi. 73 West 47th St. NY and the wearer's name Mrs C D Jackson, each side with three buttons, two large suede patches at slightly different positions, the legs tapering to a shaped lower leg, seven buttons fastening.

Condition

The exterior of the jacket is in very good condition. Under the back flap there is a little damage. Inside at the lower edge is a wide band which I woudl think was covered with a fabric, which has been removed. The jodphurs have a 1/2 in/10 cm narrow wear line (same width as the feint stripe) to the middle front. This would be covered by the jacket. The suede is a little dirty. The back waistband has some wear 1 1/4 x 1/2  in; 3 x 2 cm overall. Ask for photos.
