This would have been worn with beach pyjamas and is quite unusual.

Cataloguing

Chinese style, circular shape of plaited straw, embroidered with shaded mauve flowers and leaves, the edges bound with green cotton tape, the back with two bows, long ties inside, 17 in. widest part.

Condition

Very good. When you look inside the mauves are rather more pink, so the embroidery has faded although you would not know it from looking at the outside.
