Despite these only being small pieces I was thrilled to buy this rare and beautiful painted silk produced for the export market. Almost certainly used for a gown.
the ivory finely ribbed silk hand painted with a bird perched on a leafy spray, further sprays of exotic flowers, all in deep pink, puce, yellow, green and blue pigments, 29 x 26 cm; 11 x 10 in.
The main flowers are very good colours, the rest slightly rubbed and faded, but still extremely beautiful.
