A stunning shawl with damage. I bought it because it is quite rare to find Combination or Four Season printed shawls. The quality of the hand block printing is good. It is very reasonably priced!
with red, green, ivory and black stars surrounding a palmette design centre, surrounded by ends and sides with narrow pines, palmettes and Eastern foliage, all in scarlet, emerald green, ivory, orange, black hand block printed on a wool and silk ground, 10 ft 7 in x 5ft 5 in; 3.23 x 1.65 m
There is a 4 in; 10 cm split to black centre. Plus several more small holes to the black centre. This needs backing, which is something we can do. One end has a 3 1/2 in; 9 cm split to an inner corner. A 2 cm and a 1 cm hole near the opposite corner at same end. The other end has two areas of wear which are hardly noticeable unless held to the light.
