Gold Woven Silk Dress
c 1815

I have sold a cross over bodice before on a dress of this age. Lovely colour and design.

Description

the small diaper silk woven design of gold or soft bronze with a cross over bodice, edged with two rows of zig zag silk satin, each side with two darts from high waistband to bosom, the slightly tapering set back sleeves with similar trim to the cuffs, the back with cord edged belt caught to the back of the dress, the full skirt with apron front and drawstring,  finely pleated at the back, the hem with similar trim, lined, original silk ties inside, the bodice linen lined,49 in or 1.25 cm back neck to hem, hem circumference 7 ft or 2.14 m.

Condition

Slight underarm staining extending to 4 1/2 in or 12 cm across. When the dress is worn and arms are in place this does not show.

A couple of very slight light brown marks to back bodice.
