Ladies Waistcoat
Late 19th c

for a Manchu woman, of indigo satin embroidered with small interlocking roundels, butterflies and flowers, all in shades of pink, blue, yellow, green and ivory floss silks, the edges bound in plain pale blue satin and two rows of narrow hand woven braid, lined with pale blue silk and slightly padded, toggle and loop fastenings, 25 in. d 52 in widest.

Comments

Beautiful colours, bright and clear. There is a lovely sheen to the silk. Highly wearable or hangable.

Condition

There is a little grubbiness to the front and back neck area, and the lining is generally grubby, with little damage to inside neck. Cleaning would freshen these areas but not remove the slight marks.
