This lovely embroidery is unusual in that it has been worked on silk.
probably designed by May Morris, four entwined centrally placed tulips with four pointed petalled flowers to each end, all on an acanthus leaf stem, embroidered in a variety fo stitches in shades of coral, blue green and ivory silks on a eau de nil silk ground, 3 x 1ft 3 in ; 92 x 40 cm wide, in oak frame dating probably from 1930's.
I would think that this piece which has a central join was altered from something else!!! There are also some clever joins to one end with the embroidery then appliqued to the silk. Very well done and does not detract.
