amost certainly woven by Towler & Campin the black wool and silk twill ground woven to the borders with sprays of wool flowers and leaves in red, apple green, sky blue and white, 62 in 1.58 cm, sewn on tasselled cotton fringe

Typical design. Black ground shawls are quite difficult to find. This would have been worn in the the winter. Woven on a drawloom. A nice example of this type of shawl. For similar Clabburn, Pamela The Norwich Shawl p 76,77 Towler & Campin, shawl manufacturer, Elm Hill, Norwich & 46 Friday St, London. They exhibited a shawl at the Great Exhibition of 1851.

Very fresh looking with lovely colours. This does have a lot of small moth holes. There is also a slit 1/2 x 1/4 in
