Peacock Feathers
Third Quarter 19th c

sleeveband, the ivory silk damask ground woven with dragon meanders and interlocking flower roundels, finely embroidered with small scenes of pavillions, bridges, flowers and trees, all in soft shades of coral, pink, yellow, green, mauve, the rocky outcrops embroidered with irridescent peacock feather filaments, 20 x 1 3/4 in; 50 x 5 cm; now hand stitched to acid free calico and stretched over acid free board, ready for a mount and frame.

Comments

Unusual in that the the motifs are all very small and delicate. Peacock feather filaments are not often found on Chinese embroideries, indicating that these were worn by a high ranking woman. Would make a delightful present. This piece needs a cardboard mount and frame. We can arrange this for you. New photos on their way.

Condition

Very good. No markings, quite clean.
