for a mandarin, of black silk satin couched in gold and silver wrapped silk, caught down with yellow and green silks, with two coiling dragons each chasing a central flaming pearl, the enck opening with later loop closure, 29 x 13 1/4 in; 74 x 33 cm

Pi Ling collars were worn by mandarins at either important events or as standard wear with a dragon robe and surcoat. It was attached to the top button of the outer coat by means of loops, or had its own independent closure of loop and button. Condition

The closure can easily be removed. I have a loop with which to replace this. The gold button is fine. The background silk is more of less completly shredded as you should be able to see from the photos. Quite a lot of the couching has also come away. The brocade is in gc. The edging cotton needs a few stitches.
