Puffed Sleeves Bodice
c 1810

This will be bought for the unusual sleeves. I have not sold a piece with these before. Academic interest.

Description

of finest muslin, the front opening of double thickness muslin, one side with three buttonholes, the other with two buttonholes and a tiny white button to the front gathered waistband, the front shoulders with tight gathering, the back tightly gathered at the high waist, the back waistband not gathered, the sleeves with loose pleating and gathered in at two places to form billowing puffs, the cuffs gathered with drawstrings,

Condition

There is a feint stain near the small button, which may come out with a good soak. As you will see the neck has been cut and is now unfinished, perhaps a collar has been removed? The left hand cuff near the back has two holes each 1/2 in or 2 cm. There is a pinprick hole to the back and a few holes to the top of the right hand sleeve by the shoulder.
