Comments

Delightful unusual piece. Very plain and simple. Beautifully made with French seams. I haven't seen one like this before. The way the square surrounding the buttons has been stitched is very typical early decoration. For similar: Children's Clothes by Clare Rose (Batsford 1989) p 27 The closure sounds very complicated but basically one side folds over the other, each with loop and button. The construction of this is quite interesting. The front flap has been made from a seperate piece of fabric and has a seam down half of the robe.

Condition

Excellent. Slight, slight wear to one button and a little wear to one sleeve edge. Photos available.
