Comments
The use of bold patterns with shading was typical at this period. Produced by discharge and resist processes. Interesting colour way and design. See: Tozer, Jane & Levitt, Sarah Fabric of Society 1770-1870 p 35 O'Connor, Deryn & Granger-Taylor, Hero Colour & The Calico Printer p 21
Condition
The white cotton underarm has some staining, but this does not show on the outer fabric. The rouleau trim has come off the inside of half of one arm and is in fact missing. The lower left hand side of the skirt near the hem has one small area of slight wear and two slight pale brown stains. Unoticeable with this pattern. There are a very few slight and small areas of wear, unnoticeable.
