Just think of the poor children labouring over these delightful samples. Someone has cut these pages from the binding which is such a shame. Even if the cover had been tatty it would have been nice to have the set bound, particularly as it is complete.
Schools of Ireland to which are added Specimens of Work executred by the Pupils of The Female Natonal Model School, printed and published by direction of the Commissioners of National Education, Dublin. 1861. with a Contents section including Needlework; Cutting Out; Model Tables; Plates; Worked Specimens. included in the 27 pages of Specimens which show work from the First Class to the Fourteenth class are buttonholes, Gathering & Fastening in Gathers (a cuff); samplers including alphabet and eight darning examples (Ninth Class); a shirt with drawnwork; examples of knitting including a sock, collar, nightcap, bonnet and straw and lace work all on green paper.8 1/4 x 6 1/2 in or 21 x 16 cm.
The covers are missing but all the pages have survived. The title page and the Contents pages have some damp spots. The specimens are in very good conditon. Some of the white work has little patches of what would be glue markings. Photos available of each page.
