This 18th century silk, which is probably Spitalfields, was altered again in the Edwardian period. For someone who would love to have an example of fly fringing and chenille woven brocade this is the piece for you.
dress silk brocade, with rows of flower meanders, in silks and chenille on finely striped satin, between narrower rows with sprays of similar flowers and small chenille sprigs, all in shades of pink, aubergine, gold, mid blue and green silk, with silk fly fringing to the edge, 20 in or 50 cm longest; 10 in or 25 cm widest
Slight mark on the curve (underarm) and a little hole.
