Woman's Jacket
Late 19th c
for a Manchu woman, the fuchsia satin ground applied with jui shapes round the neck, the front and bands of straight edging to the bottom and sleeve edges, all beautifully embroidered with a variety of flowers in pinks, blues, greens with a little gold couching on ivory satin, edged with mid blue satin, and with inner narrow hand woven borders, the sleeve bands on ivory satin with a man with water buffalo and woman in gardens, mainly in Peking Knots, 'gold' engraved buttons, lined with light blue silk, last quarter 19th c.

Marvellous colours. Fine embroidery. The jacket's front has four little, little holes and a little area of slight wear. The sleevebands are slightly grubby on their folds and one has a few marks to the plain back section.
