of beige cotton sateen, with domed oval toes, the latchets tied with a silk ribbon, edged with cream cotton tape, leather sole and low wooden heel, lined with cotton, 9 in' 23 cm heel to toe, heel 3/4 in high; 2 cm.

For similar see: Pratt Lucy & Woolley Linda Shoes V & A p 60 plate 28 which states: Men and women began wearing more pratical shoes and in The Lady's Monthly Magazine for January 1808 it notes that black velvet lace-tied shoes were the newest mode in walking dress.

Condition

Very good. Little faded here and there. One small hole to back of one shoe.
