This lovely shawl will be appreciated by collectors despite the damage. It would be suitable to put on a mannequin or just to keep and admire.

Description

woven silk and wool deep borders with three rows of pines with gently curving tips, filled with a central red flower with pale blue centre, surrounded by a variety of smaller red and blue flowers, beween guard stripes and borders of flowerheads, a row of upright stylised flowers and leaves emeging onto the silk twill weave ground, the borders hand sewn, silk fringing, 3ft 6 in x 8ft 6 in long or 1.17 x 2.6 m long

Condition

Some of the fringing is missing. The side borders are the weakest area. We have supported on the underside in one area with a fine silk .  The other end has a couple of repairs, which you do not really notice until you feel them. The silk centre has a 16 in  or 40 cm split, which we have repaired. There are also some markings and a pale brown stain 2 1/2 x 1 in or 6 x 3 cm. Photos available.
