Rare, unusual and interesting antique costumes and textiles; for museums and collectors looking for that extra special piece, for new and established collectors and for those with a modest budget who want to adorn their person or home.

Turkish Towel Ends
19th c

These pieces are really attractive and if joined would make a great cushion.  They could also be joined and used on a mat on a chest of drawers, or framed. The towel was probably for hand wiping, the centre got stained, as they do, and was cut.

Cataloguing

Each end with three large apricot and cream flowers with beaten silver stamens, between large green leaves with similar spines, the leaves edges in fine silver metal thread, surrounded by smaller fruits and flowers, on a fine muslin, edged with silver lace.

6 x 22 in; 15 x 56 cm actual embroidery with lace.

Condition

Very good apart from one light brown mark on one piece. See it on the left of the left hand flower. I think if the pieces were mounted on a suitably dense weave fabric, this would not show.
