There is ink writing on one end with an indecipherable gentleman's name and date 1844.


Cataloguing

The natural linen with shaped curving divided collar on a band with two hand embroidered buttonholes, tapes to each end, starched.



Width 16 in; 41 cm 



Centre depth 4 1/2 in; 11 cm


Condition

A little grubby but in good condition with original tapes.


Comments

An Agreeable Tyrant. Fashion after the Revolution by Aiden O'Brien p 162 "early 1800s", but perhaps similar design continued into the 19th century.  There is a shirt front illustrated with a similar collar attached.
