For similar: Fashion Kyoto Costume Institute p 104 Taschen. This example is slightly earlier. See: Le Costume populaire Provencal Musee des Arts et Traditions Populaires de moyenne, Provence p. 131 for a whole chapter on cloaks. This was looked at by Anthea Jarvis, Keeper of Costume at Platt Hall, (Costume Museum) Manchester who confirmed the date, to whom I offer my thanks.

Condition
Extremely rare item of clothing. A fabulous piece with two marvellous prints. In excellent condition apart from a small area to the top of the hood which has a 1 in. tear and another spot hole and slight whitish markings which looks almost like a water mark. The pleating in the two areas is delightful. Where the top hook is missing there is a little damage. The loop is original.
