Yes, I know Hungary is in Europe but it is more appropriate to put folk art into this category. I am sure this is a textile for use in the home rather than a piece of costume. Probably for covering piles of cushions or bedding. The pomegranates are a symbol of fertility, so this is possible a dowry piece. Great design and vibrant colours. Would look very well hung on a stretcher or framed. Up to 12 years ago I often used to buy really nice Balkan embroideries, either costume or domestic pieces.
