The embroidery is very fine and most unusual in that it has around 20 different motifs. Usually they have repeat motifs. The length of the sleeves is also unusual but they have not been reduced. The dress is slightly trained.
A small bustle would have been needed to hold out the back gathers but this is missing. Very unusual to find dresses with the bustle still intact.
The construction is similar to Bradfield, Nancy Costume in Detail p 87 but with a shorter train.

Condition
In very good condition. Fresh and pretty. There is a hole 1/4 x 1/2 in. at lower front right side. Another minute one lower back. There are a four pale rust coloured stains, approx 1/4in;1 cm dia to the gown's right side. A conservator could probably fade these or even remove them.
