Lovely elegant bonnet. Quite the nicest I have had. The ribbon is enchanting and original reminding me of some early stoles.

with original silk gauze striped ribbon in ivory with stylised leaf motifs in rust, deep brown, shallow bavorlet at the back neck, the brim gently curving at the sides, original paper in crown, wired brim, the crown 5 3/4 in deep 15 cm, the top 4 1/4 in;11 cm; the width of the crown 5 1/2 in; 14 cm; the brim 6 in; 15 cm

Condition

Basically in very good condtiion apart from a small 1/4 in; 1 cm v shaped tear at brim front and a small brownish stain 3/4 x 1/4 in; 2 x 1 cm. The inside wire is exposed with little pieces of original silk, which would have formed the covering. The crown is very crudely stitched to the brim, but this is orignal because others I have had have been similarly joined.
