Pashmina shawl
c 1860
Stunning shawl. Great for a throw or to mount and hang. These pieced shawls are incredible works of art. Wonderful workmanship. Several weavers would have woven a section, which was then expertly pieced together by a shawl tailor or rafugar. From the front it is impossible to tell this, the design is completly aligned. See Production Methods section in ARTICLES on my website. The embroidered border appears to be woven from a distance, which was exactly the idea.
