Crane Embroidered
Late 19th c

This would look stunning with the white section folded over, to reveal just the orange area and mounted.

Cataloguing

Altar cloth, of stunning burnt orange silk grosgrain embroidered with three egrets or cranes with red crested heads, brwon beaks and black necks, their eyes couched in gold wrapped thread, elegantly flying amongst shaded blue cord couched and gold clouds, the top central panel of white cotton, 3 ft; 90 cm longest length x 51 in; 130 cm wide

Condition

There are a few small markings, one above the top right hand cranes foot, two more above the right hand blue cloud. There is also a small mark to the right hand border half way down. I think once hung this would look splendid.
