Large Quilted Hood
mid 19th c

Although the filling is of sheep's wool the hood does not feel padded but flat. Inside there is a small tear showing sheep's wool. Hoods were practical headwear and would have been snug for riding in a draughty carriage or for walking. They would have been worn over the wearer's bonnet.
