Norwich Fushia
c 1820

Wonderful colour. It is quite unsual for the various narrow borders not to be the same. ie. the two borders to the end of the stole and the inner one are different from the side borers.

The Norwich Shawl p 106, no 82 for similar but wider. The same narrow border comments apply to this shawl as well.

Cataloguing

drawloom woven the fushia silk centre with deep ends woven in wool and silk with four flower filled pines in shades of mid blue and green, ivory and khakhi, a smaller row above, all between guard stripes of stylised red, green and black, the narrow side borders similar but in a meander design with red and blue flowers, 8ft 5 in x 21 in or 2.56 x 53 cm

Condition

Overall very good. Couple of small holes to one end border. The centre is pretty good. One darkish mark to one end 2 x 3 cm and to the other end another 1.5 cm dia. Another very feint mark to this end.
