The tightly woven shawl was of very good quality. This is a beautfully cut and made coat with the shawl's pattern being carefully used for the design

Thomas Muirhead & Co, 200 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow written in gold on a black label, made from an 1860's Paisley woven shawl, the full coat with deep collar with maroon silk velvet edged with shawl, front opening with nine buttons from neck to hem, the sleeves with fullness behind the cuff, edged with velvet bands, the centre back with a 5 inch or 23 cm wide double pleat, the collar with original black cotton lining,the coat re-lined with blue.
