Book Cover
c 1910 but 17th c style

This is possibly a copy of a 17th century book cover, but enlarged to fit a early 20th century book. The hanging cord is  a very good replica of a17th century cord.


Cataloguing

embroidered in rust coloured silks with a central vase of stylised flowers within an oval, the date 1651 embroidered in corners, a 17th century cord with four toggles rather like bunches of grapes hanging from the spine, trhe inside with flaps for the cover of the book, all on a yellowish loosely woven linen, 8 x 6 1/4 in or 20 x 16 cm.


Condition

Very good apart from rust markings to whole piece.
