the black satin ground finely embroidered with a variety of exotic birds, including cockerals, pheonix, peacocks, egrets, mandarin ducks and about six other pairs, together with butterflies flitting amongst rocky outcrops and tree and plant blossoms, the neck opening band with a man sitting in a pavilion watched by another carrying a mallet,the border on the opposite side with figures of a man carrying grasses and a woman fishing, all in polychrome palette of shades of pinks, mauves, blues, soft orange, turquoise, green and ivory, 36 x 38 in or 90 x 97 cm


Condition

There is slight fading overall as so often happens with Chinese textiles. When you look at the back some of the colours are very bright and the slightly fading is far preferable. There may be a little more fading to the lower right hand band.
