Sampler with a verseJesus permit thy name to stand/As the first effort of an infant Hand/And as her fingers on the canvas move/Incline her tender mind to seek thy love/With thy dear children let her have a part/And write thy name thyself upon her heart above a flower wreath with initials A>H and 1813 and Anne Hulberts Work surrounded by a strawberry tree, a vine, unicorn and a stag and flowers in sytlised vases, all in cross stitch in shades of coral, yellow, cream, light brown, dark green and grey silks on a natural linen ground, 16 x 16 1/2 in or 41 x 42 cm.


Condition


Very good apart from two small rust marks to very bottom of sampler.

We have hand stitched this to acid free calico and stretched it over acid free board and taped in position, all taut and ready for a frame, which we will leave to you.
