Eyebright
1883

Morris's designs between 1883-5 show two distinct pattern designs that he had not used before.  This small 'net' design is one of them, which he printed for the comapny's curtain lining fabrics. If you like indigo you will love this. Be good to frame.



 


Cataloguing

hand block printed Eyebright, designed by William Morris and registered on 23 November 1883 and printed at Merton Abbey, the indigo ground with a repeat design of stylised flowers in cream surrounded by pale blue leves in a ogival trellis, 12 x 38 in or 30 x 97 cm  wide selvedge to selvedge


Condition

Apart from two diagonal cuts to the plain indigo selvedge, this piece has not been used.
