Queen Anne Embroidery
Early 18th c

For a lover of early English embroidery.  The vermiculated design was very popular at this time as was the use of yellow muga silk from India.

Cataloguing

the fine linen embroidered in silks with slips or sprigs of elegant flowers and leaves, some emerging from a grassy hillock ground, all in shades of green, yellow, brown, soft apricot, bronze and ivory, worked in chain stitch, the background worked with a vermiculated design in a yellow muga silk in backstitch,  backed with linen, 34 x 26 in or 86 x 66 cm

Condition

Very good. The embroideress clearly ran out of yellow and green silks which she was using on the top hand section and continued with bronze, brown and green palette.
