Morris & Company Embroidery
Late 19th c

A very decorative embroidery in good colours.

Cataloguing

probably designed by Mary Morris, with stylised flowers enclosed by acanthus leaves, all in shades of crimson, red, pink, ivory and shades of green on a gold coloured twisted silk ground, 16.5 x 66 cm or6 1/2 x 26 in.

Condition

Excellent. We removed this piece tacks and all from a old piece of wood. It now needs to be hand stitched to calico, stretched over acid free board ready for a traditional frame. Alternatively we can hand stitch to a ground fabric, stretch that over a picture stretcher ready to hang on the wall. Or it could be placed in a perspex box.
