It is difficult to find these beautiful flimsy shawls in such good condition. Worn on a summer evening by the middle classes, or by lamplight at an evening function, this type of shawl must have looked beautiful, the silk catching the light.

with an overall design of undulating ribbons with Eastern motifs, a border of medallions and roses, two ends fringed, all in red, aubergine, pink and mid green on an ivory ground. 11 x 5ft 7 in; ft; 3.34 x 1,70 m
Condition
Three small areas of wear to central area. A couple of splits to end borde, 4 and 6 inches; 10 and 15 cm. Photos available.
