Caramel Centred Shawl
c 1840

Unusually the side borders have been hand sewn on.  We usually only see this with very early shawls.The centre colour is unusual. Very good quality.


Cataloguing

retangular, of wool and silk, the large rich caramel centre having deep end borders with delicate foliage creeping onto the centre above elongated scrolling pines, filled and surrounded by Eastern inspired flowers and foliage, predominantely in scarlet but with mid green, pale blue, ochre and brown, the side borders sewn on, 10 x 4ft 10 in/  3.05 x 1.47m


Condition

Very fresh looking with one pinhead hole to centre. A few small markings to centre. See photos or ask for more.
