This is the most incredible densely worked piece, probably from a bedcover. The flower stamens are so tightly worked in a twisted stitch, that they are three dimensional.
Cataloguing
with a spray of large leaves and flowers, densely worked in shaded cream, beige, rust and yellow floss silks in a variety of sttiches, the linen ground quilted with very small trellis and circles, the border with a continuous repeat of small flowers, edged with original linen binding, 8 1/2 x 23 in/ 22 x 58 cm.
Condition
This is a little grubby but colours unfaded.
