Bronze Silk Lampas
c 1830

I have included it on the site, despite the damage, because I feel the shawl is exceptional with beautiful colours, which seems to sparkle. It is also a good weight which drapes well and could be worn.  You would not notice the holes when worn.

Cataloguing

Woven in a silk lampas twill weave with two different flowerheads surrounded by leaves and smaller flowers, all in soft rust, apricot, pink, bronze, silver and pale yellow on a deep bronze or brown ground, short fringe, 5 ft/ 1.52 m square.

Condition

The shawl looks very fresh. However there are about 24 small holes in the shawl, the largest 1/2 in/1 cm diameter.
