Huge Embroidered Misers Purse
1870s

I have never seen such a large purse. The two silver closure rings are of superb quality. One of the silver rings is engraved with a heart with change, the other ring with a woman kneeling in front of a haughty looking man!!!!!!  What is this about?

Cataloguing

The two sides each embroidered with snowdrops in white silks with bronze and green leaves, oak leaves whose acorns are worked in silk strips and intricate silver cups, the other side with roses in pinks, prickly stems and bronze and green leaves and a ivory silk crocus, all on black velvet, lined in leaf green silk taffetta, the silver rings with indented edges, engraved with a heart with change, the other with a woman kneeling in front of a man, the ends with silver ball and mesh tassels, 18 in; 45 cm long

Condition

Very good. I cannot detect any damage.
