Fortuny Style Curtains
Early 20th c

These curtains look very dramatic. The design is imitating Italian silk velvet woven with a cut and uncut pile and with gold and silver metallic thread, in a late 15th or early 16th century Renaissance design. The lengths have been silk screen printed first with a black ink and three  different metallic powders, two shades of gold and one silver using a metallic binder.

Cataloguing

The large Renaissance style design silk screen printed with large palmettes on wide undulating stems, surrounded by stylised foliage, gold and silver stamped onto a sage green/grey cotton velvet, which has been hand printed with black outline..
