Embroidered Waistcoat
1830s

Attractive embroidery.

Cataloguing

Embroidered in cream twisted silks with a trailing flower and fruit meander to the long rounded lapels, with similar sprays to the lower front area flanking five self covered buttons, slit pockets with embroidery, all on a white piqué ground, the back of white cotton, with adjustable fastening with a silver coloured buckle above double eyelet holes and tape (original) tie.

Back nape of neck to hem 18 in; 46 cm.

Condition

The right hand lapel, as you look at the piece, has an area of light marking 3 in; 8 cm.  Because this is cotton, it could be washed (carefully) and probably that mark removed. I'll leave it to you! There is a pin prick rust? mark to the lower left hand side.
