Under Stock - late 18th/early 19th c

possibly an under stock of white linen gently curved down at ends, one large hole hand embroidered as if a buttonhole, for tapes to thread through, tapes to each end, 3 in or 8 cm centre depth x 23 in or 59 cm length.

RARE Table Carpet - c 1600

the central field with a repeating pattern of stylised flowers and leaves surrounded by a guard stripe, the border with Renaissance style pattern, a further guard stripe with repeat flower meander, the outer border scalloped and with flowers, all embroidered in red, yellow, blue and green silks, cross stitched on a canvas ground, 6 ft x 7 ft 10 in.; 1.73 x 2.4 m, yellow silk fringe to two ends, original linen backing.

Walter Crane style - 1880's

six hand painted silk organza mats Honeysuckle, the girl poised with arms swaying over her flower adorned head, with a skirt made from flower heads, her shoes of green tied with ribbons, all in shades of green, yellow and pink. Iris, the young woman with an iris dress holding her arms a flower, in all in shades of mauve, pink and green. Holly, the young man dressed in green with a holly leaf hooded collar, his legs with holly as if boots and with upturned holly shoes, his right hand holding a horn cup, in green red and pink. Blackberry, the young woman dressed in leaves and with a skirt painted with the fruit, holding briars, a basket at her mauve clad shoes, full of fruit, in shades of pale blue, green, mauve and pink. Siddecia, a young boy in an armour of the leaves of the flower, holding the flower stem, as if a banner, all n shades of pale blue, green, pink and yellow. Cow Parsley, the young man with a dress made from the plant and leafy fronds on his head and as wings, all in soft green and pink shades. all mats each 9 x 6 1/2 in or 23 x 17 cm

May Morris - 1890's

tablecover, the border embroidered in thick twisted silks with poppy flowerheads and bursting buds, acanthus leaves all on gently scrolling stems, shaded from orange to cream, sage green , the ground embroidered in cream, guard stripes in shades of silk looped fringe, linen centre, 3 ft; 90 cm sq.

Velvet Waistcoat - Late 19th c.

of purple and indigo striped cut and uncut velvet, the centre panel with a prunus tree emerging from a rocky outcrop flanked by fungus and flowers, the satin background with raised velvet images, surrounded by shou or long life roundels similarly worked, the border of gold and black woven brocade in a dragon meander design, the round neck edged with similar in rouleau cord, the fastening to the front of chased gold and with loop fastenings in brocade, lined with palest blue fine silk, shoulder to shoulder across 15 in or 40 cm; length 26 or 68 cm.

Dresden Apron - 1780

tamboured with small flower sprigs in two designs, one filled with drawnwork centres, additional leaves, white cotton bobbles to sides and hem, 42 x 30 in or 1.07 x 76 cm long

Green Brocade Caracao - 1780's

the turquoise taffeta silk woven with sprays of soft vermillion red, yellow, apricot, green and ivory and others of soft apricot and silver, with a silvery background lace effect weave, the front with turned back pointed revers and long pointed front, the sleeves with wrist slits, the back with pointed tail and a softly pleated skirt, lined with linen back neck to hem 17 in or 43 cm.

Silk Damask Runner - 18th c

of greeny/blue silk woven with baskets of fruits and surrounded by exotic fruits and leaves, bordered with a wide border of silver braid, 34 1/2x 20 in or 88 x 50 cm.

Norwich Calamanco - 1760's

of worsted wool woven with pink, yellow, pale green, bronze, dark brown and neutral stripes of various widths, 15 in or 38 cm square.

Norfolk Blanket - c 1800

hand woven cream wool, each end with two blue stripes, one end with 1800 embroidered in pink eyelet stitch, the other with the embroideress initials MS and then another S below, the four corners with remnants of embroidered wool flower sprays in ochre, yellow and white, 6ft 10 in x 5ft 7 in or 2.09 x 1.70 m

Mary Best's high neck - c 1807

long trained dress, of fine white cotton, the fall front bodice with centre vertical inset hand made Buckinghamshire lace panel, high neck with similar lace inset panel and frill, the lower fall front with original narrow ties for gathering, inside two further ties at back and front, the very long sleeves with slightly rounded and full shoulders gathered into mid upper arm, lace insert, applied over cotton and with shaped ends, the back opening with eight small Dorset buttons, back shoulder seams and two diagonal from sleeve to waist, skirt tightly gathered at back, French seams, very long and trained, shoulder to front hem 52 in or 1.3 m;shoulder to bottom of train 7ft 4 in or 2.20 m

Lemon Slippers - 1790's

of lemon kid with elongated pointed toes, cream silk looped ribbon decoration, the forward slanting side seams, the top edge and the back seam all bound with silk ribbon, low shaped lemon leather heels, the brown leather straight soles scored with four small punch marks, insides of slightly glazed linen, toe to hell 10 in or 26 cm

English Brocade Man's Cap - c 1715-20

the crown of woven brocade using apricot, soft terracotta and mid green silks, the background of silver thread with a foliate design, silver braid dividing the crown into four segments, the upturned brim lined with apricot silk tafetta, the brim woven in crimson, apricot, shades of blue and green silks, the ground woven with silver thead, with a variety of flowers, edged with scalloped silver/gold bobbin lace, lined with linen,, 6 1/2 in. h, 20 in. inside circ.

Toddler's dress - c 1805

of fine white cotton, the high bodice with low curved collar with double points over the short puffed sleeves, all edged in bobbin lace, the front with a gathered infill, lace trimmed, drawstring at back opening, the hem with six pleats, shoulder to hem 22 1/2 in or 57 cm; width 10 1/2 in or 27 cm.

Corded Corset - c 1910

of beige coutil cotton, the boned front opening with bone buttons attached by tape, the bust section of fine pleats, the back boned section with metal eyelets and laced, the main body finely corded and with gussets over the hips each with two boned buttons, wide shoulder straps, all edged with tape, machine sewn, lined with white cotton, inside printed with 21 and 3981 front busk 14 in or 36 cm; waist 23 in or 54 cm.

Working Men's - 1850's

Educational Union coloured lithograph printed on cotton, the lower left hand corner stamped Working Men's Educational Union. King William St, Trafalgar Square, London and 204 with a variiety of fossils, labelled A,B,C,D,E,H,I , hand coloured in pale blue, palest lemon and soft brown, each corner with a brass eyelet, the reverse written in ink Paleo.......... Trilabites etc. + Corals 2 ft 3 in x 3ft 10 in or 89 x 118 cm wide

both dresses of very fine rib, curaisse bodice with front opening of thirteen buttons, three pleats from shoulder to lower waist with ruching at the waistline, two short bones at the back and one inside at waist, the skirt swagged from ruching into a back puff, the lower skirt with wider pleats and ruching, small pocket to front left, a concealed pocket at right back, inside tapes, a large mid blue satin bow to the back, machine made cream lace collar and cuffs, the bodice lined with cream cotton, the skirt with petrol blue cotton,

The only difference in the dresses apart from the size, is the cuffs. The older girl's dress has a bow to the back cuff and the younger girl's has an added lace trim to above the ruching.

Larger dress - bust 32 in or 82 cm; waist 28 in or 66 cm; length 4ft 3 in in or 1.3m (back neck to hem)

Smaller Dress - bust 29 in or 74 cm; waist 26 in or 65 cm; length 4 ft or 1.22 m (back neck to hem)

Stomacher - 1740's

the ivory satin ground embroidered with a tudor rose and other flowers in three shades of silk, from fushia to palest pink, and couched with gold wrapped silk thread in two thicknesses, some bound in fushia and green silks, some with patterns in the leaves, the leaves in two mid and lime green and yellow, the top edge and lower curve edged with looped gold thread interspersed with silks, the back in a fine ribbed ivory silk, 12 x 9 in or 30 x 20 cm.

American? Quilted Crewel Skirt - Early 18th c

possibly American, unpicked, probably American, the top half of cream twill weave wool and linen/cotton (fustian) mix, all quilted, the lower width of coarser wool embroidered in wools with upright flowers including tulips, gilly and pinks, the border with a flower and leaf meander, all in clear shades of crimson, pink, yellow, lime and dark green, mid and dark blue wools, the embroidered section is shell quilted, edged with cream linen braid, 33 x 7 ft 3 in or 83 x 2.2 m wide
