Brer Rabbit

Great present for a Morris enthusiast. I have now sold this piece but have another similar facing the other way. Ask for photos. Brer Rabbit or Brother Rabbit was designed by William Morris and registered on 20 May 1882. It was printed at the Merton Abbey works. These have been handstitched to calico (acid free) which has covered acid free board and had a creamy/off white card mount made, already for a frame. This is standard frame size. Ikea have suitable and inexpensive examples. See: Parry, Linda William Morris Textiles

indigo discharged and hand block printed cotton with white design on an indigo ground, the actual fabric 3 1/2 in or 9 cm square, the mount 5 x 7 in or 3 x 8 cm

Very good.
