Unusual colour which I would think would appear to be gold by candlelight and the ivory flowers would have glinted silver. I now have two18th century skirt lengths from a gown, which I can sell seperately.
Two curving leafy stems laden with small bunches of flowers climb up the fabric, in ivory, soft pink, old gold, green and touches of blue, on a taupe coloured ground with two widths of horizontal lines, all in a brocaded tabby weave ground.
Length 2 - 51 x 21 in; 1.3 m x 54 cm - £ 375
There is a slight split 3/4 in; 1 cm horizontal split 20 in; 50 cm from top of the piece. Then there are two vertical splits to the centre of the fabric 3 1/2 in; 9 cm long (not solid split but with two breaks) and two 1 in; 2 cm horizontal splits further down. You can only see these when you hold the fabric to the light.
