This must have been a gown originally and then altered to make this pretty and unusual shaped bodice.

Description

The large neck with front opening, seams from bosom cups down to sides, the lower front with tabs, the back with centre seam culminating in a fan shaped gathering, additional seaming from back shoulder to sides, the shaped sleeves with silk fringing, lined with linen.

The brocade fabric with red and black linear panels with sprays of crimson, pink and blue flower bouquets, other smaller flower sprays in pink and yellow, with groupings of four vertical lines interspersed with small meandering pink flowers, all n a silk satin woven with self coloured verical lines.

Bust 32 in; 82 cm.

Soulder to front hem 21 1/2 in; 55 cm.

Condition

Very very good. One minute mark on the right hand side near the underarm. There is a stain to the right hand arm just above the curve 3 x 1 1/2 cm. No underarm staining. There is another stain near the right hand side hem, under the arm 3 x 5 cm.
