Mughal Quilted Embroidery
c 1700

The diamond quilting on this piece is extremely fine. It would make a delightful present for an embroidery or quilter. These were probably part of a coverlet produced for the Western market and brought over by the East India Company. This was part of my collection but now with less wall space I am reluctantly selling it. I hope you enjoy it.

The two upright flowers with lower buds and elegant leaves, all embroidered in bright pink floss silks with hints of paler pink, their pointed stamens of green with yellow, tangerine and black centres, the elegant leaves in two shades of green, a silver wrapped silk couched divider, all on a natural cotton finely diamond quilted ground.

The embroidered panel 3 1/2 x 6 in/ 9 x 15 cm

Card mount with incised line and dull gold frame 7 1/2 x 10 in/ 19 x 15.5 cm

Very good
