Morris & Company
Late 19th c

Very unusual design and colouring, almost certainly by John Henry Dearle, who was the manager, but often designed textiles.

Cataloguing

The large artichoke with splayed leaves emerging from a base with small harebells and tulips, the top corners with sprays of roses, all in ivory, pale and mid green, pale blue and pink silks with a background of terracotta twisted silks.

20 1/2 in; 53 cm

Condition

There is a slight dark mark to the middle of the right hand side2 1/2 in; 6 cm long (not a solid line), which I feel sure a conservator could remove, but I don't like to. We have removed the embroidery from a non acid free board. It now needs to be hand sewn to a calico covered acid free board ready for a frame. We can do this for you.
